Dhiraagu is pleased to announce that Cyber Stations will open in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo, Baa Eydhafushi and Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi on 28 of May 2000.
The Cyber Station in Fuvah Mulah will also start shortly during the month of June 2000. These Cyber Stations will allow Customers who do not have their own PC and phone line, to have easy access to the Internet.
The Cyber Stations will be located in the Dhiraagu Operation Centers on those islands and will be open to the general public during normal working hours at the same charges as the existing Male' Cyber Cafe. Initially, free service will be provided to different Customer segments on these islands from 28 -31 May, so that Customers can familiarize themselves and learn the benefits of the Internet.
General Manager of Dhiraagu Mr. Keith Wilson said, "Our aim is to provide Public Internet Service to as many people as possible, at reasonable rates. When Cyber Stations become operational in these islands, 40% of the Maldives population will have access to the Public Internet Service.
The Maldives has the highest Internet penetration in the SAARC region and is also among the top countries in the Asia Pacific Region. We intend to keep the Maldives in this enviable position".
