Dhiraagu is planning a series of activities to mark Net Day on the 14 October, the date Internet services were introduced to the Maldives, 5 years ago.
Various activities are planned from 14 to 31 of October, including special initiatives for education and people living outside Male'. More details of the Internet Fair and the launch of new Internet-related services will be communicated to the public over the coming days.
Dhiraagu has made every effort to extend Internet access to all Maldivians by providing public Internet access from six Atoll Cyber Stations and regular public education campaigns. In the five years since launch, DhivehiNet charges have been reduced six times, with the latest reduction on 21 September 2001 offering savings up to 45%.
