Dhiraagu wishes to advise all customers on progress of the GSM Expansion Project (contract value Rf 20 million) which was signed on 4 May 2000 between Dhiraagu and Alcatel.

The first phase of the project has already been completed. In this phase Male' capacity was increased for an additional 4,000 customers and the network can now support over 8,000 customers. Also extra base stations have been installed to improve coverage.

The next phase of the project is to provide additional capacity throughout Male' and Ari atoll and will start soon, followed by the final phase of the project which is to extend GSM coverage to the additional atolls of Baa and Lhaviyani.

The whole project is currently running to plan and at the current rate of progress will be completed by December 2000.
