Dhiraagu announces today that the international bandwidth between DhivehiNet and the Global Internet had been increased by 60% to provide faster Internet access.

When DhivehiNet was introduced on 14 October 1996 International bandwidth was only 64 kilobits per second (Kbps) to Hong Kong Telecom and a second international link was established with Telecom Italia later.

As customer numbers and usage increased Dhiraagu has continued to upgrade the service and with the current expansion, bandwidth is now 1 Megabits per second (Mbps).

The latest expansion was made through one of the fastest and most reliable Internet backbones, Cable & Wireless Hong Kong Telecom Global Internet Network.
