Today we celebrate the 7th anniversary of DhivehiNet, the Maldives Internet Service. Highlights of the past 12 months include:

• Introduction of 7 new DhivehiNet dial-up packages and enhancements to the existing packages in March.
• Enhancement of the free web-based AvasMail service in May
• Introduction of a special high-speed Internet access package for educational institutions in July
• Introduction of satellite based high speed Internet access nationwide in August
• Volume discounts and added benefits for DhivehiNet Broadband customers in August.
• Introduction of 512kbps DhivehiNet Broadband ADSL Service in September.

A number of activities are planned to mark the occasion, including the special extended payment scheme for new DhivehiNet Broadband ADSL customers introduced last week, the launching of an Information Technology Club, an Online Internet Forum, a Mailing List service and the Dhiraagu Internet Awards 2003.
