Dhiraagu To Introduce Residential Broadband Internet To 10 New Islands
Dhiraagu is pleased to announce the introduction of ADSL Broadband Internet service to 10 new islands in 6 atolls on the 1st of May 2006.

This means that Dhiraagu fixed line customers in these islands will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of affordable high quality, high speed Internet from the comfort of their homes.

The 10 islands include Kaafu Villingili and Hulhule, Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi, Baa Eydhafushi, Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo, Gnaviyani Fuah Mulah and all the islands of Addu Atoll.

To mark this significant achievement and to encourage take up of broadband Internet, Dhiraagu is planning to celebrate a “Broadband Blowout” with exciting promotions and a new extremely affordable Internet package – details of these will be announced over the next few days.

Dhiraagu believes the introduction of residential broadband internet to these 10 islands would help to narrow the information gap between Male’ and the Atolls and will contribute immensely to the economic and social development of the islands.

Notes to Editors: Today residential broadband service is available in Male’ and HulhuMale’. With the addition of these 10 islands the percentage of population with access to Dhiraagu’s residential broadband Internet service will increase from the current 35% to 51%. Plans are already in place to extend broadband internet to the remaining islands over the next few years.
