Dhiraagu has supported the team representing the Maldives at the Special Olympic World Games 2023 in Berlin, Germany. As part of the company’s support, Dhiraagu has contributed jerseys and travel kits to the team representing the Maldives in the World Games.

The Special Olympics World Games is the largest inclusive sports event in the world where thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities compete together in various sports. This year, the Maldives team will be participating in competitive running and badminton.

At a special ceremony held at the Maldives National Sports Institute today, the competition jerseys were handed over to the team by the Minister of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment, H.E. Ahmed Mahloof and the travel jerseys and kits were handed over by Dhiraagu’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ali Riyaz.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Mahloof emphasised on the role played by the establishment of the Special Olympics Maldives in promoting inclusivity in sports. He also thanked Dhiraagu for the company's contribution to the team.

“We would like to extend a special thank you to Dhiraagu for their contribution to the team and their support over the years as well. In particular, I would like to note and applaud the Dhiraagu Special Sports Festival which was the starting point for many of our athletes to gain the confidence to play and participate in sports over the years,” stated Ibrahim Rameez, Technical and Sports Director of Special Olympic Maldives.

“Empowering inclusive communities is an important part of our CSR programme and as such, we are happy to provide support to this year’s Special Olympic World Games team from the Maldives. We are all very proud of the team and wish them great success in all their games,” stated Ali Riyaz, Chief Commercial Officer at Dhiraagu.
