Dhiraagu signed a sponsorship agreement with Football Association of Maldives (FAM) granting Dhiraagu the main sponsor rights for Dhivehi League 2007/2008 and titling the tournament as Dhiraagu Dhivehi League.

The ceremony was held on 10th July evening at Television Maldives. Dhiraagu Dhivehi League is the biggest sporting tournament that is held in the Maldives.

The ceremony started off with a special report on the history of Dhiraagu Dhivehi league, followed by the signing of the agreement between Dhiraagu and FAM. Dhiraagu Chief Executive, Mr. Ismail Rasheed and FAM Chairman, Mr. Abdul Shakoor signed this sponsorship agreement.

Mr. Abdul Shakoor gave his confidence that Dhiraagu would receive full cooperation from FAM for Dhiraagu Dhivehi League tournament and thanked Dhiraagu for their support once again.

In his remarks, Mr. Ismail Rasheed thanked the FAM for giving Dhiraagu the opportunity to partner in a significant Maldivian sporting event and assured that Dhiraagu will continue to support youth activities and sports even in the future.

The ceremony was concluded by a presentation of Dhiraagu Dhivehi League Jersey’s of the eight teams competing in the 2007 tournament.

Dhiraagu Dhivehi League 2007 comprises of 43 matches which will be played over the next two and half months. Dhiraagu will be introducing SMS text based services for customers to obtain details on league schedule, team standings, team news, scores, etc.

And will introduce SMS based competitions for customers to win valuable prizes. Dhiraagu mymobile.mv portal will also introduce video clips and photos of Dhiraagu Dhivehi League tournament.

Dhiraagu was the main sponsor for the Dhivehi League during the past two years as well. The opening ceremony of Dhiraagu Dhivehi league 2007 is scheduled to begin on 12th July during the evening at the National Stadium.
