Dhiraagu has become the official partner of the Maldives under-14 National tennis team, taking part in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Asia 14 and Under Development Championship 2016.
The event, which is set to take part Bangkok, Thailand from 17th to 30th January will feature a one day training camp and two 5-day tournaments. Under 14 tennis teams from nations such as Bangladesh, Turkmenistan, Singapore, North Korea, Cambodia etc. are set to take part in this tournament along with 12 other nations.
This is an initiative by the Tennis Association of the Maldives to develop and nurture talents in the sport of tennis in the Maldives, and a team of 3 boys and 3 girls will represent Maldives. The tournament is endorsed by the Grand Slam Development Fund, which is a fund designed to develop young players from around the world, and allowing them an opportunity to get international experience.
Dhiraagu has always shown keen interest in such initiatives to assist in youth development and the development of sporting opportunities for our locals. Manager of the under-14 national tennis team, Ahmed Akram said, “We thank Dhiraagu for the immense support provided to take the team to this tournament. All the sports enthusiasts in the country would undoubtedly acknowledge the interest Dhiraagu shows in these Youth and Sports Development initiatives. The support they have given to us for this tournament would definitely be a huge step in taking this sport to the next level in the Maldives and I thank them on behalf of everyone involved for their assistance.”
