A significant component of this project is to provide 4G services to our mobile customers this year.

During the contract signing ceremony, Dhiraagu CEO and MD, Ismail Waheed said, ‘With the introduction of 3G H+ in 2013, attractive data bundles together with our new exciting Postpaid SMART packages, we have seen our customers adopting these value for money services resulting in a sharp increase in data usage. This investment will further improve our customer’s mobile data experience along with higher speeds on both 3G and 4G services”.
This is a continuation of Dhiraagu broadband rollout program which commenced in 2011. One of the main projects delivered under this program was the establishment of a domestic subsea cable system connecting the Maldives from north to south with an investment of over MVR 435 million. This has facilitated higher speeds and data connectivity across the country for consumers, corporate, resorts and government customers and enabled the expansion of mobile broadband services into inhabited islands.
