Dhiraagu is pleased to announce the introduction of Picture Message service today. This allows DhiMobile customers to send and receive graphical messages as a convenient and fun way of communicating with friends and loved ones.

Customers can choose from a selection of pre-designed graphical messages on the Dhiraagu website www.dhiraagu.com.mv or create their own using the design tool available on the site. Picture Messages are different from multi-media messaging (MMS) and customers will not be able to send photos from their mobile phones using this service.

Picture messages can be sent from any mobile phone using a text command. However, only handsets that support picture messages (most Nokia phones and selected models from other manufacturers) will be able to display received picture messages.

There is no need to register, pay a setup fee or monthly charge for the service. Each SMS message sent will be charged at the standard SMS tariffs; however in some cases multiple SMS messages will be sent from the phone to transfer a single picture message.

Notes to Editors:

Dhiraagu standard SMS rates are Rf1 per national SMS and Rf2 per international SMS. Sending a picture message direct to someone will therefore cost Rf1 locally and Rf2 internationally.
Depending on the model, a mobile phone will send 2 to 4 SMS messages to forward a downloaded/received picture message in the phone to another mobile phone. As each of these SMS messages will be charged at the standard rate, sending a downloaded picture to another mobile will in most cases cost Rf3 locally and Rf6 internationally.
