Dhiraagu is pleased to announce today, the introduction of international SMS service which will make it possible for DhiMobile customers in the Maldives to send SMS messages to overseas mobile numbers.
The service was inaugurated by His Excellency President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom at a ceremony held at the Male' Kulhivaru Ekuveni Cricket Grounds.
There is no need to register or pay a setup or monthly fee for the service. To send an international SMS, customers simply key in "+" and the country code in front of the overseas mobile number that he or she wishes to send the SMS to. Each international SMS sent will be charged Rf2.00.
At launch DhiMobile customers in the Maldives will be able to send SMS messages to customers of 44 mobile operators in 24 countries. More countries and operators will be added over the coming months with priority being given to countries frequently visited by Maldivians.
Dhiraagu CEO, Ismail Waheed said, "I know many DhiMobile customers have been looking forward to this day and I want to thank them for their patience and understanding while we worked with our suppliers to solve the complicated technical and billing issues that had been preventing us from offering this service".

Notes to Editors:• Due to technical reasons and the need to depend on the mobile operators in other countries for the information, it is not possible to confirm the delivery of an international SMS message. Customers will be charged for all international SMS messages they send.
• The service will be introduced to roaming customers later this year after the necessary negotiations and commercial agreements with the overseas mobile operators are completed.
