Dhiraagu hosts South East Asia and Indian Ocean Cable Maintenance Agreement (SEAIOCMA) Management Committee Meeting at Bandos Island Resort, Maldives.
SEAIOCMA is the largest consortium
of International submarine cable operators and facility providers such as Cable
ships and depots. SEAIOCMA provides submarine cable maintenance spanning an
area between Djibouti in the west, Perth in the South, Guam in the East and the
northern tip of Taiwan.
The agreement provides for repair
and reinstatement of submarine cables that carry international
telecommunications traffic in the event of cable damage by ship anchors,
fishing, tsunami, earthquake, etc. Ships based in Singapore, Philippines and
India are on standby ready to respond within 24 hours in the event of a
disruption to telecommunications traffic.
Dhiraagu is the only telecom service provider in Maldives who has partnered
with SEAIOCMA to maintain their submarine cables. Dhiraagu has been a member
from 2006, since then SEAIOCMA has extended their support in maintaining
Dhiraagu’s submarine cable which is laid across Maldives from North to South
and its international submarine cable connecting to Sri Lanka.
This is the first time the annual meeting of SEAIOCMA is being hosted in the
Maldives and participated by senior executives from leading telecom companies.
Dhiraagu, the Maldives’ leading
telecommunications and digital services provider is the only operator in
Maldives to be a member of this consortium and since the landing of its
submarine cable it has benefited the support from SEAIOCMA.
Being a member of this consortium,
it takes as short as 24 hours to respond to the issue in any event of
telecommunications traffic in the submarine cable. Dhiraagu has remained to be
the service provider with most widespread network in Maldives and being a
member of SEAIOCMA has assured the highest value of maintenance service
from the world’s best experts of submarine cable to minimize any case of
service disruption to our customers.
There are 44 representatives representing several international submarine
cables as well as the facility providers (Cable ships and Depots) taking part
in the meeting. The meeting will take place from 19th to 21st March at Bandos Island Resort.
