“Dhiraagu Go Green 2025” event, held in partnership with Clean Maldives, was successfully conducted in HA. Dhidhdhoo from 2 - 4 June 2025, coinciding with World Environment Day celebrations. The event was part of the continued commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and encouraging community engagement in eco-friendly initiatives.

The three-day event brought together the support of the Dhidhdhoo Council, Dhidhdhoo Kurimagu Jamiyya, local NGOs, school children, and the wider community to actively participate in a series of environmentally focused activities. The event centered on planting over 2,000 native and resilient trees, including fruit-bearing varieties such as mango, guava, and rose apple, as well as a variety of shade-providing trees across HA Dhidhdhoo, with 1,000 plants directly contributed by Dhiraagu.

Key highlights of this significant environmental initiative included:

    • Distribution of fruit trees to households in HA Dhidhdhoo
    • Interactive awareness sessions for school children and community members on waste management, recycling, and the environmental benefits of tree planting
    • A panel discussion on “Ending Plastic Pollution,” featuring participation from Dhidhdhoo Council and Dhidhdhoo Kurimagu NGO
    • A drawing competition encouraging children and youth to creatively engage with themes of sustainability, with eco-friendly prizes awarded
    • Distribution of Dhiraagu Ocean reusable bags to all participants to promote sustainable everyday practices

“Aligned with and in support of the national initiative to plant five million trees, this event demonstrated a broader commitment to restoring natural habitats and combating climate change across the Maldives. The environment remains a key pillar of Dhiraagu's CSR programme, and the partnership with Clean Maldives, reflected our shared dedication to fostering healthier ecosystems and promoting sustainable community practices” stated Bishaara Hameed, Senior Manager Corporate Social Responsibility at Dhiraagu.

“Sustainability is not just a goal, it is a commitment to future generations. Through GoGreen2025, we are planting the seeds of change, ensuring a greener, healthier Maldives for all." Stated Hafsath Haleem, Founder and President of Clean Maldives.

The initiative marks an important step in ongoing efforts to create meaningful, lasting impact by empowering local communities to take action for a greener, more resilient Maldives.
