    Dhiraagu Celebrates 15 Years Of Service
    1 October 2003 is the 15th anniversary of Dhiraagu - a 15-year period in which, rapid developments have been made in the telecommunication infrastructure and services for the entire country.

    As in previous years, Dhiraagu has over the last 12 months continued to work relentlessly in introducing new services and enhancing the quality of the existing services offered to our customers.

    During this year, DhiMobile GSM service has been extended to all the islands of Addu Atoll, Fuvahmulah and selected islands in Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu Atolls. As a consequence, Dhiraagu mobile phone service is now available in all 88 resorts and 82 inhabited islands in 18 atolls, covering 71% of the population.

    A number of SMS based services have been introduced, those of which include International SMS, Prayer times via SMS, SMS Directory Enquiry, SMS Bill Enquiry and Missed Call Alert Service. We also launched an SMS application allowing customers to apply for some Dhiraagu services via SMS.

    DhivehiNet service was enhanced to offer our customers higher speeds and better value for money. Additional dial-up packages, higher speeds of broadband access in Male' and satellite-based high speed Internet for islands outside Male' were introduced. Attractive offers such as volume discounts on usage, free email accounts, free web space, and special educational packages have also been offered to customers.

    In addition to service enhancements and new services, Dhiraagu network and systems has been continuously enhanced and upgraded to expand the services offered and to ensure that a very high quality of service is offered to our customers. In keeping with our customer-oriented approach, major efforts have been made on understanding customer needs and wants, allowing Dhiraagu to deliver superior customer service, which in turn assists us in improving our image to become a more customer -friendly organization.
