Dhiraagu has announced the beginning of the 3rd batch of Dhiraagu Apprentice Program (DAP).

At a special ceremony held today at Traders Hotel certificates were awarded to 13 successful graduates of the 2nd batch of training and offer letters were presented to 22 new candidates joining DAP this year.

DAP marks the third consecutive year since it began in 2008 December, which is the most widely conducted apprentice program across Maldives.

DAP is a key initiative under Dhiraagu’s youth development program, a vital area of focus under Dhiraagu’s social responsibility strategy. The objective is to support towards positive development of youth between the ages of 18 to 24 years.

During the program structured training and work experience is provided to participants in a professional business environment. In addition, apprentices are paid a monthly allowance during the program, giving them the opportunity to earn while they learn.

Apprentices are selected nationwide through an application process from a pool of young high-school leavers and selected candidates follow the one year program in different departments of Dhiraagu in Male’ or any of the designated regional centres across the nation.

In the last two years since the program began more than 13 apprentices have successfully completed the program and have joined long term employment several sectors. Hence, Dhiraagu is proud to have played a role in creating a better career prospect for the youth.

Dhiraagu has a successful history of human capital development through several initiatives for employees and the community. The fact that 99% of our staff are Maldivians is a true testament towards our efforts in human resource development in the country.
