Dhiraagu begins installation of new Telephone Exchange
As part of the work required to prepare for the installation of Dhiraagu's new telephone exchange in Male', we have begun constructing manholes for external cable laying, between the existing telephone exchange in the Telecom Building, and Dhiraagu's Main Office, where the new telephone exchange will be installed later this year.

Following an open tender Dhiraagu awarded the contract for this work to Aima Construction.

We will build five manholes between the Telecoms Building and Dhiraagu's Main Office, in the following roads: Chandanee Magu; Lily Magu; Alikilegefaanu Magu and Bokarumaa Golhi.

The work also involves digging trenches and installing pipes between Dhiraagu Main Office and the Telecom Building. These pipes will house the copper cables and fiber-optic cables between the two exchanges in the two buildings.

The manholes and ducts are designed to allow easy maintenance of these cables and to provide for expansion of the Male' telecommunications cable network for the foreseeable future.

Work began on the manholes near the Main Office on 4/1/99 and is expected to be finished by the end of February 1999.

Dhiraagu would like to express our apologies for any inconvenience caused to the public during this essential work to expand and modernize the telecommunications network.
