Maldives 6-digit Numbers Unreachable After 30 September 2005
Dhiraagu would like to remind all our customers that the parallel working period of the old and new numbering plans in the Maldives will end on 30th September 2005.

To minimize inconvenience and allow customers to become accustomed to using the 7 digit number, Dhiraagu arranged for the old and the new numbers to work in parallel over the last several months.

Consequently customers have been able to make calls using either the old 6 digit number or the new 7 digit number.

However, starting 0000hrs on 1 October 2005, Dhiraagu fixed, mobile and paging customers will no longer be reachable via the old 6 digit numbers; instead callers dialing the old numbers will hear a recorded message guiding them to dial correctly.

The decision to change the Maldives numbering plan was made by the Telecommunications Authority of the Maldives to create additional numbers to meet the demand, especially with the introduction of mobile competition.

Full details of the new 7 digit numbering plan are available on our website www.dhiraagu.com.mv.
