New customers applying for service for the first time need a sponsorship letter from an existing Dhiraagu customer, who agrees to pay all charges incurred, if the new customer defaults.
The sponsor's original NID is also required on application. In order to support Maldivians during Hajj, Dhiraagu is introducing the following:
• All international direct dial (IDD) calls to Saudi Arabia from 30 January 2002 to 3 March 2002, calls will be charged at Rf 17 per minute (the current off-peak rate, in 6-second blocks). This is applicable for all calls from fixed lines, mobiles and payphones, but not for operator-assisted calls through 190.
• Any customer can apply for international mobile roaming service by showing their valid Hajj ID card. The standard security deposit will be reduced by 50% to Rf 2,500 or waived completely depending on the customers personal credit history.
