Dhiraagu is pleased to announce the signing of a contract worth Rf 23 million, with Alcatel CIT of France for the supply and implementation of a General Packet Radio Service enabled network.

The contract was signed by Mr. Ismail Waheed, CEO of Dhiraagu and Mr. Denis Bouzac, Area Sales Manager of Alcatel.

Under this contract Alcatel will supply the hardware and software that will enable Dhiraagu to offer 'always-on', higher capacity, Internet-based content and packet-based data services to DhiMobile Post-Paid and Pre-Paid customers.

The planned launch of GPRS later this year will allow services such as colour internet browsing, email on the move and multimedia messaging for DhiMobile customers using GPRS supported mobile handsets.

GPRS service will initially be available in Male', surrounding areas and all resorts.
