    Dhiraagu has joined a multi-party agreement to connect the Maldives to Sri Lanka through a second fiber optic submarine cable.


    ANNOUNCEMENT

    Dhiraagu has joined a multi-party agreement to connect the Maldives to Sri Lanka through a second fiber optic submarine cable. The Maldives Sri Lanka Cable project contracted Huawei International Pte Ltd through an RFP process. Dhiraagu has committed to spend USD 8.4 million towards the project. Once the Maldives Sri Lanka Cable is completed, it will strengthen international diversity, increase international bandwidth and improve reliability. Dhiraagu will own 45% of the Maldives Sri Lanka Cable. The other parties to the system are Dialog Axiata Plc and Ooredoo Maldives Plc. The new Cable System will complement our existing submarine cable connectivity. Our investment in the new submarine cable network will improve our network diversity and resilience, further enhancing service availability and experience for our customers.
