Dhiraagu is the First and Only Operator to Provide 3G Mobile Broadband Service to All Inhabited Islands of Maldives

Dhiraagu is delighted to announce the successful completion of its nationwide 3G mobile broadband rollout project, which makes it the first and only operator to provide broadband services to all inhabited islands of the Maldives.

Further to the announcement made earlier this year to provide mobile broadband service to all inhabited islands before end of 2015, Dhiraagu is pleased to have fully completed this project well ahead of the target date.

Dhiraagu has connected the entire country from north to south through a fibre-optic submarine cable network, with the objective of provisioning broadband connectivity across the country. Delivering on the promise to provide mobile broadband services to all inhabited islands by the end of this year had been Dhiraagu’s top-priority focus and Dhiraagu is proud to have completed this national milestone project 3 months ahead of the initial target date.

Commenting about the achievement, Dhiraagu CEO & MD, Ismail Rasheed, stated “It was a promise we made to the people of the Maldives. In a geographically dispersed nation, ensuring such coverage to all inhabited islands regardless of population size, does not come without challenges. However, having good internet access is important for someone living in a remote island as it is for someone living in the capital. Our focus is to expand our services to benefit all the people across the country.”

Dhiraagu will constantly strive to achieve and maintain its position as the leading telecom service provider in the country. The company is proud to accomplish this project which makes it the first and only operator to provide mobile broadband services to all inhabited islands across the Maldives.

Dhiraagu also currently provides the widest 4G LTE coverage in the country and recently introduced 4G LTE-Advanced for the first time in Maldives. Dhiraagu has the largest 3G and 4G LTE network across the nation.
