How does Dhiraagu Wireless Zones work?

 

Dhiraagu installs access points or base stations at all Wireless Zones, which transmits a radio signal to a user's wireless LAN card (compliant to IEEE802.11b/g standard) with the Service Set Identifier (SSID) configured to ‘Dhiraagu Wireless Zone’.

With a properly installed and configured wireless LAN card, a customer launches his/her Internet Browser at a Dhiraagu Wireless Zone and receives a web-based log-in page to enter his Login ID and Password. Once his/her account information is authenticated, he/she will be connected to the Internet via Dhiraagu Wireless Zone. With full connectivity to the Internet, customers can access any Internet resources, as well as any corporate networks to which they have access via the Internet.

How can I acquire an account to use Dhiraagu Wireless Zones?

 

To use Dhiraagu Wireless Zones, you need to obtain a prepaid account with Login ID and password, for a one time account. These accounts can be obtained in the form of Prepaid scratch cards made available at the Wireless Zone locations and Dhiraagu shops.

For Dhiraagu mobile customers, accounts can be easily purchased by sending an SMS to 414. The charges will be debited to the mobile account.

 

How do I get started?

 

Install the wireless LAN card/adapter and its required drivers on your laptop/ notebook/ PDA.
Launch the wireless LAN card configuration utility or network setting.
Locate a Dhiraagu Wireless Zone.
When you launch your Internet browser, the Dhiraagu Wireless Zone login page will be displayed.
Enter your Login ID / Password.
The Login ID / Password is what you will get when you purchase an instant prepaid account with us.

 

What is the key word and number to SMS for this method of login account?

 

Send SMS with ‘keyword’ to short code ‘414’.

Dhiraagu Wireless Zone accounts can be bought by both prepaid and postpaid.

 

How is my mobile charged for messages sent to 414

 

The prepaid gets charged immediately on request of Dhiraagu Wireless Zone account, if the prepaid mobile account has sufficient credit. For postpaid customers the monthly bill will include the charges for Wireless Zone.

 

Can I use my Postpaid mobile package bundled minutes to acquire a Wireless Zone login account?

 

No, the Wireless Zone is not included in the bundled minutes.

 

When does Dhiraagu begin to count down the login account I purchased?

 

This happens from the first time you connect by login into webpage.

 

What is the validity period of an account?

 

Account validity may vary based on the chosen plan and the accounts opened will expire after the validity period. Validity period is started to count from the first login time and will continue even when the user is not logged in.

Do I need to make any changes to the settings on my laptop/notebook/PDA?

 

Generally, you will not need to make any changes to the settings in your laptop/notebook/PDA. However, if you encounter problems getting the web-based login page even though you have configured the wireless LAN card correctly, please ensure that you have not selected “Always dial my default connection” under the Dial-up settings for the Internet Options. And set to obtain IP address from DHCP Server.

 

Do I need to logout after each session or can I just switch off the laptop/notebook/PDA after the session?

 

Yes, you need to logout after each session.  Allow the pop-up on the Portal (Login) Page. This pop-up will provide the logout feature; it will even show the remaining time of your current logged-in account on the title bar. Or you can bookmark the logout page address for manual logout, if you don’t want to allow the pop-up. If you switch off the laptop/notebook/PDA, the session will end 5 minutes after you switched the laptop/notebook/PDA off and the 5 minutes is chargeable.

 

What is the technology deployed for Wireless Zone?

 

The technology deployed complies with IEEE802.11b/g standard. You need to specify this standard when you buy your Wireless LAN card.

 

Where can I buy the IEEE802.11b/g wireless LAN card?

 

You may buy your IEEE802.11b/g wireless LAN card from any computer hardware shop. You must specify IEEE802.11b/g standard when buying from other vendors. Generally all devices such as Laptop/Notebook/PDA computers are built-in with a standard Wireless Adapter.

 

Which operating system is currently supported?

 

Most wireless LAN card supports Windows 98 and later versions. Also supports Mac OSX.

 

Which browser does Wireless Zone supports?

 

Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera and all other modern browsers.

 

How can I check my account or login balance minutes?

 

The minutes left on your currently logged in account will be displayed on the title bar of the Pop-up window.

 

Can I use an account multiple times?

 

Yes, you can use it multiple times at your convenience until the purchase minutes is consumed or the validity period expires.

 

What will happen if my account balance exhausts while in a session?

 

You will be disconnected with the following message “Account Expired”.

 

Can I continue my session with another account?

 

You may login with another account (a new prepaid scratch card or purchase via SMS) to continue browsing normally.

You will be automatically logged out after 5 minutes.
