QT Service

The Quick Top Up (QT) service allows Dhiraagu prepaid customers to top-up balances of other Dhiraagu prepaid customer accounts by sending an SMS.

How do I get started?

  • You need to register for the service.
  • To register for QT service you would have to send a “REGISTER” SMS. Please refer to the tables in this user guide for instructions.
  • In the “REGISTER” SMS, you would have to create your own unique Customer ID.
  • The system will retain your Customer ID and use it to verify your identity if you lose or forget your PIN.
  • Once you register you will receive a PIN number via SMS. You would be using this PIN number for all your future transactions.
  • You could change the PIN number by sending a “CHANGE” SMS. Please refer to the tables in this user guide for instructions.

How do I use the service?

To transfer credit from one prepaid to the other you would have to send an SMS to 144 in the following format.

< Keyword> <PIN> <recipient mobile number> <amount>

Once a QT SMS is sent you will receive a transaction ID. This should be retained and quoted to Dhiraagu Customer Services in the event of any difficulty.

When a transaction is complete, both sender and receiver will get a confirmation SMS.

The sender must have sufficient balance in his/her prepaid account to allow the transaction to be successful.

What are the charges for using this service?

Each QT SMS sent will be charged Rf 1 per SMS

You will not be charged for receiving a QT SMS

What else can I do with this service?

Scheduling monthly top ups

QT service allows you to set up monthly transfers to other prepaid accounts. Please refer to the tables in this user guide for guidance on the QT SMS format to be used for the monthly transfer.

You could choose a day (e.g. 15 th ) for the credit to be transferred to another Dhiraagu prepaid account and the specified amount will be transferred on that day of every month.

If you set up the monthly transfer on a date before the chosen day, (e.g. you set up the transfer on the 12 th and your chosen day for the credit transfer is 15 th ) then the first transfer will occur in the same month. However, if your chosen date comes before the date you set up the transfer, (e.g. you set up the transfer on the 12 th but your chosen date for transfer is on the 8 th ) your first transfer would happen on the following month.

Unregistering from the service

If after registering for the QT service you decide you do not wish to use the service anymore, send a QT SMS to 144 with the keyword UNREG followed by your PIN, and you will be removed from the service. If you wish to use the service again you will have to re-register by sending a QT SMS in the “REGISTER” keyword format in order to obtain a new PIN.

Blocking your prepaid number from using QT service

If you wish to block your prepaid account from ever using the QT service, you can send an SMS to 144 with the keyword BLOCK. This will prevent your account from being able to register for the QT service.

If after blocking your account you decide you want to take advantage of QT service, you will have to contact Dhiraagu customer care on 123 in order to have the block removed.

You will be required to provide proof that you are the owner of the prepaid account.

Obtaining help with the QT service

You can send an SMS with keyword HELP to 144 in order to receive information on the keywords available with QT service.

For information on specific keywords send an SMS to 144 with the keyword HELP followed by the keyword about which you require more information.

You do not need to be registered in order to use QT HELP facility.

For any general inquiries regarding QT service, please contact Dhiraagu Customer Care on 123.

What else do I need to know about the service?

  • A QT can be for any amount from Rf1 to Rf500 in Rf1 increments.
  • A prepaid account can have a maximum value of Rf1800.
  • A QT can only be performed to a Dhiraagu prepaid mobile account that has a validity period remaining. If the account is suspended, disabled or retired, the transaction will be unsuccessful.
  • A prepaid-to-prepaid QT does not extend the recipient's account validity period. QT will not work if the account validity period has expired .
  • Each SMS to 144 will be charged at Rf1 whether or not the QT request is successful, so please make sure that:

-You have sufficient balance in your prepaid account to allow the transaction to be successful. Since each QT SMS sent will be charged at Rf1 per SMS, the account requesting the QT must have Rf1 more than the amount being requested to transfer ;

-The account to which you are requesting the transfer still has a validity period remaining;

-The account to which you are requesting the transfer is not suspended, disabled or retired;

-The number to which you are making the transfer is a Dhiraagu prepaid number .
