The capacity of available leased lines vary between 9.6Kbps to 10Mbps speeds. 64Kbps and above are useful for networks with moderate traffic requirements that have steady and sustained patterns ie. large file transfers between a number of sites connected. Since the leased lines are point-to-point direct connections, the service is highly secure and good for financial transactions such as ATM services and Point of Sales type applications. Currently leased lines are by far the most popular method of connecting corporate networks.
